SharePoint 2007 Project Manager/ Business Analyst

The Project Manager / Business Analyst (PM / BA) works both internally and with ThoughtBridge clients to identify, prioritize, and manage the implementation of assigned projects. The following are a list of responsibilities of the PM / BA:

Client Relationships
  • Builds and manages relationships with Clients and works with those clients to identify and prioritize and implement technology projects.
  • Works with the client in the establishment, organization, and implementation of short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and affects changes as identified in the Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Communicates regularly with executive management and administration regarding the status of current project initiatives; obtains executive guidance and approval as required to advance initiatives.
  • Represents the project to various client divisions and components as well as to various external entities as required.
Requirements Definition and Scope Management
  • Works with clients and team members, to ensure that business requirements are clearly identified, documented, communicated, followed, and approved.
  • Develops cohesive understanding and signoff on project scope with client project stakeholders, inclusive of cost, quality, timetable, and deliverables.
  • Identifies and escalates issues, concerns, risks, etc. as required to ensure the ongoing success of the project.
  • Carefully and proactively monitors project activities to assure they remain within scope. Immediately alerts the Client Project Sponsor of any needs or requests that are outside the agreed scope or which are no longer needed and should be eliminated from the scope of the project. Prepares Scope Change Requests for any activities that the Client Project Sponsor agrees should be added to or removed from the scope of the project.
  • Develops project documents, Statements of Work (SOW), design documents, etc. for client projects.
Business Process Analysis
  • Performs systematic, in-depth analysis of current business processes to identify:
    • The objectives the processes must accomplish.
    • The core functionality of the processes.
    • Organizational and functional interaction.
  • Performs analysis of any available data related to the processes in order to:
    • Identify and understand the performance dynamics of the processes.
    • Establish benchmarks against which the performance of the new processes will be measured.
    • Establish routine, regular performance measures that quantify the performance of the new processes against the benchmarks.
  • Synthesizes new processes that:
    • Accomplish the objectives of the process.
    • Are an elegantly simple combination of required manual and automated processes
    • Facilitate organizational and functional interaction
  • Determines if the new processes satisfy the client’s justification criteria:
    • Documents quantitative and qualitative benefits.
    • Performs Return on Investment (ROI) analyses using the client’s methodology.
    • Performs Cost / Benefit analyses using the client’s methodology.
  • Identifies, documents, and assigns for resolution issues that impact the business process analysis and synthesis process.
    • Involves client management responsible for the processes in all steps of the analysis and synthesis process.
    • Assists the Project Manager by managing the Business Process Analysis Sub Team assuring that tasks assigned to team members are proceeding satisfactorily and are completed on time.
    • Produces weekly Sub Team status reports and submits them to the Project Manager by the weekly deadline.
    Implementation
  • Assists technical staff during the implementation phase to assure that the designs and implementation processes conform to the design specifications.
  • Assists Power Users and client Business Analysts in developing and executing test cases. Monitors the testing process to assure the automated processes are sufficiently tested and coordinates the correction of any identified errors.
  • Establishes User Support Procedures.
ThoughtBridge Methodology and Practices
  • Develops, adheres to, and enforces project management and documentation standards.
  • Generates ideas and suggestions for process improvements that are needed within the ThoughtBridge Delivery organization.
  • Perform other job related duties as required.
Project Team Building and Management
  • Promotes a spirit of cooperation and respect among client and ThoughtBridge project team members.
  • Is alert to any team member personal issues and concerns that may hinder performance and need to be addressed.
  • Creates an atmosphere that is relaxed and fun while striving for excellence.
Project Planning and Progress Monitoring
  • Develops integrated project plans, implementation schedules, and cost estimates for client projects, and uses appropriate tools to maintain project plans and milestone listings.
  • Tracks project progress, identifies risks, communicates risks and status to client and Delivery Manager, and assesses potential impacts to the project.
  • Monitors project fees and expenses relative to the project budget and regularly reports cumulative budgets, fees, earned value, expenses, and variances to the client.
Project Collaboration and Documentation
  • Maintains the SharePoint project site as the central repository of project documentation and collaboration.
  • Creates documents for presentation to the client that are clear, concise, professional, and visually pleasing.
  • Maintains project documentation including, but not limited to, project lists, project status reports, meeting agenda and minutes, budget information, and issues lists.
  • Knowledge of MS Project or similar project management tools.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Business Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience with the majority of the focus in business analysis or project management.
  • Knowledge of MS Project or similar project management software is required.
  • Dedicated focus to client relationship management combined with a sharp attention to detail is a must.
  • Experience with formal project management methodology
  • PMP certification is preferred, but not required.
